Adaptogens – one key to more energy

I ran across a link on my Facebook  this morning that had some interesting information on Adaptogens.  (Scroll down to see it below.)  If you haven’t heard of adaptogens before, you’re not alone.  The dictionary says adaptogens are “(in herbal medicine) a natural substance considered to help the body adapt to stress and to exert a normalizing effect upon bodily processes. A well-known example is ginseng.”  They have long been used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, but haven’t been as commonly used in the West until more recently.  As the name suggests, adaptogens can have different effects, depending on what your body is needing at the time.  If you’re low on energy, they help you have more energy, but they can also help you handle stress better  when you are feeling too stressed out.

At any rate, even if you don’t have time to listen to the whole podcast, the notes in the link contain some great information on adaptogens that can help with energy problems, whether from thyroid issues, adrenal fatigue, or other causes.

Not surprisingly, two of the adaptogens mentioned are in Uncorked products. Eleuthero, or Siberian ginseng, is in both Uncorked Original and Enerlean, and Reishi mushroom is in our Revive multivitamin. See the whole ingredient list and order at my Uncorked site.

I have been taking ginseng supplements for a couple of years, and have found that they really helped my energy levels, which haven’t been great due to adrenal and thyroid issues.  Then, last spring, when I tried Uncorked Original, I realized that having high quality ginseng, along with other ingredients with lots of antioxidants, helps even more.

We just started school last week, and my son is now in middle school, so we get up an hour earlier than we had been used to, in addition to just generally adjusting to going off of our late summer schedule.  I have really relied on Uncorked Original and Enerlean, and I’ve been able to feel energetic clear until evening, so I can get done everything that I need to, which is a long list as I go back to working closer to full time and handle all the back-to-school emergencies that require supermom.  I’m so glad that I found Uncorked!  You can order samples at my website or follow me on Facebook, as I run contests regularly where you can win free samples.

Do you need to be Revived?

I have been having fun looking through all the ingredients in the Uncorked supplements to decide which ones to highlight first.  The only problem is that I don’t quite know where to start!  So many of the ingredients are supplements that I’ve tried individually  over the years, but now  I have products that put several of them together for a synergistic effect, using only top-quality ingredients (something I didn’t always do a good job of looking for before).

So, in my quandary of where to start, I decided to start with the most complicated of all – Uncorked’s Revive multivitamin.  You can check out the entire list of ingredients and see for yourself, that there isn’t much that isn’t packed into this multivitamin.

I know that my energy levels are better since I’ve been taking Revive.  It’s just full of ingredients that help your body function well and feel good.

To break it down, you get:

*Probiotic blend

*Citrus complex that includes Quercetin, which is great for immunity and fighting inflammation and pain

*Flaxseed with Omega 3s

*Special fruit and vegetable complexes – 100 mg each of great stuff that a lot of us don’t get enough of in our diets

*Whole foods and green complex that includes spirulina and chorella, both great for health

*Herbal complex including garlic and echinacea for strong anti-viral help

*Mushroom complex with Shiitake, maltake, and reishi mushrooms

*Digestive Enzyme complex, with bromelain, amylase, etc.

*Nice add-ons like lutein, boron, and inositol

*High quality ingredients that you you generally expect to see in a multivitamin, like Vitamin A and C, Folic Acid, but also including copper and chromium and panothenic acid
